Neo Immersion Montessori School Commencement to Class of 2020 Graduates

Dear Class of 2020 Graduates,

Congratulations on this most momentous day of your lives. It wasn’t the most easy one, but you’ve made it with the support from your teachers and family members thus far! The colorful sash of academic excellences, golden graduation robes, and caps for you can help cover the super hero personality in you, but it cannot hide who you are as a great person with a bright future.

You Are Our Future

I believe it was Whitney Houston, a famous black female signer who once said in a music video, “I believe the children are our future, teach them well and let them lead the way. Teach them well and let them lead the way. Show them all the beauty they possess inside. Give them a sense of pride to make it easier. Let the children’s laughter remind us how we used to be.”

I have a hard time remembering what I was like at your age. Half the time I can’t remember what I did yesterday. But I can tell you that the stuff you have learned in the last two-three years will serve you well when all of you move onto kindergarten. But here are some quick tips that I would like you to note as you embark on your next learning adventure.

Top 6 Graduation Tips

  1. You need to learn how to count to 100. It will be valuable when you need to pay-back your parents for all the mobile apps from remote learning during Coronavirus’s Shelter in Place time-period.

  2. You need to learn how to read, write and understand math. This will help you count how many cars, legos, stuffed animal tucked way, keep track, and need to put away yourself.

  3. When someone asks you what you want to do for a living try to mix it up. Maybe instead of saying a fire fighter or a doctor tell them a Managing Director of Financial Services Top 5 Firm or the Creative Director of Creative Advertising Agency focused on Fortune 100 companies. The longer your job title is, the more it makes you sound important in the company when grow-up.

  4. Live within your means. Don’t spend all your $1 bills from family allowances on a motorized car that needs to be charged by a battery and only runs for couple of hours.

  5. Understand that when your parents decided to put you in kindergarten it was because they thought you would have a better chance to have fun learning in school. So, you cannot quit, never. Anyone regretting now? Raise your hand, or forever hold your peace.

You want to have a competitive edge? Color inside the lines and learn Mandarin-Chinese by tracing on sandbox or paper 10 more times when teacher ask you to practice. Right, Ms. Guo (Chinese Academic Advisor and Lead Teacher)?

Be brave, and be active. Well, not just in sports, but also learning as you graduate from Neo Immersion Montessori School, Class of 2020!
